Military & Business Leaders Release Results of Keybridge Study

The Energy Security Leadership Council releases a Keybridge study examining the potential macroeconomic impact of the Council's policy recommendations

On February 23, the Energy Security Leadership Council (ESLC) released the results of a study of the long-term economic effects of the ESLC's National Strategy for Energy Security. Commissioned by the Council and conducted by the Interindustry Forecasting Project at the University of Maryland (Inforum) and Keybridge Research LLC, the study is based on a simulation analysis employing the highly respected Inforum LIFT model, an interindustry macroeconometric model of the U.S. economy.

Speaking at an event at the National Press Club, ESLC Co-Chairman Frederick W. Smith - Chairman, President, and CEO of FedEx Corporation -commented, "we also believe that, purely in economic terms, this set of policies will pay off over the long term ... that they will enrich our nation, create jobs, and steady and strengthen our economy.  And we turned to the very best to make sure we were right.  Shortly after developing the National Strategy, the ESLC commissioned the Interindustry Forecasting Project at the University of Maryland and Keybridge Research to study the long-term economic effects of our policy proposals. This expert modeling team collectively has decades of experience building and performing simulation studies with large-scale econometric models and conducting public policy research on energy and macroeconomic issues. Our goal was to produce a detailed, sober analysis based on conservative, realistic assumptions stretching out over the next four decades."
